Meet your Planner
JuliaRay Corbin-Smith
I’ve always known I was meant to be around people. Originally from the charming town of Winterset, Iowa, I went to school for Sales and Marketing, where I discovered early on that connecting, organizing, and creating experiences lit me up. My time in a sorority—holding multiple leadership positions—taught me how to plan, pivot, and lead with heart.
After moving to Redding, California in 2015, I met our friends Ayla and Wes Tucker. Wes, the commander of the VFW, mentioned wanting to host a golf tournament. I said, “Sure, why not?”—having no idea that one “yes” would lead to something much bigger. That first tournament revealed a talent and passion I didn’t know I had.
Since then, I’ve planned more golf tournaments, my own wedding, and multiple events for nonprofits like the Redding Chamber of Commerce, Mountain Top Athletics, and Veterans of Foreign War—all while working full-time, being a wife, and raising a family. These were all volunteer efforts, but each one filled my cup and made me realize I had found something special.

After attending hundreds of events, cheering on friends and family, and naturally stepping into the role of “hype woman,” it just made sense. Being part of Dancing with the Shasta Stars was a defining moment—it reminded me how much I love being part of something that brings people together, inspires joy, and creates lasting memories.
Now, I’ve decided to make it official: I’m turning my passion into a profession with Golden Set Events—a name that beautifully blends my two worlds: Golden State living and my Iowa roots in Winterset. This business is my way of giving back on a larger scale—to support more nonprofits, celebrate life’s biggest milestones, and serve as the go-to planner for unforgettable events.
